Everyone knows that the service life of a frequency converter is halved for every 10 degree increase in ambient temperature. Therefore, in daily use, a reasonable inspection cycle and system should be developed based on the actual usage environment and load characteristics of the frequency converter. After each usage cycle, the overall disassembly, inspection, measurement, etc. of the frequency converter should be comprehensively maintained. Today, the editor will tell you the eight most effective maintenance suggestions for extending the service life of frequency converters.
, Based on the actual environment, determine the length of the cycle interval and conduct a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the frequency converter. When necessary, the circuit boards in the rectifier module, inverter module, and control cabinet can be disassembled, inspected, measured, dedusted, and fastened. Due to the frequent blockage of the lower air inlet and upper air outlet of the frequency converter caused by dust accumulation or excessive dust accumulation. It has a high heat dissipation capacity and requires a large amount of ventilation. After running for a certain period of time, its substrate (due to electrostatic effects) may accumulate dust and must be cleaned and inspected.
, After the circuit board and busbar of the frequency converter, necessary anti-corrosion treatment should be carried out, insulation coating should be applied, and burrs and insulation treatment should be carried out on the busbar with partial discharge and arc. Insulated columns with insulation damage must be removed of carbonization or replaced.
, Tighten all terminals to prevent serious issues caused by looseness, and conduct a comprehensive inspection and measurement. For all terminals (including output terminals), rectifier modules, inverter modules, DC capacitors, and rapid melting equipment, if they are found to be burnt out or have significant parameter changes, they should be replaced in a timely manner.
, The rotation status of the fan in the frequency converter should be carefully checked. After power failure, rotate the fan blades by hand and observe whether the bearings are stuck or not rotating flexibly. Replace them if necessary.
, Carefully inspect the electronic components on the frequency converter control circuit board, check and handle abnormal phenomena such as welding detachment, discoloration, expansion, cracks, and broken wires (printed circuit board circuits). If necessary, for components with abnormal appearance, welding detachment measurement inspection or replacement can be carried out from the circuit board.
, Use multimeters, bridges, and other instruments and tools to test and withstand high current devices such as rectifier blocks and inverter GTRs (or IGBTs), measure their positive and negative resistance values, and record them in a table. Replace modules with significant parameter differences.
, Check the main contactor and other auxiliary relays, carefully observe whether the dynamic and static contactors of each contactor have arcs, burrs, surface oxidation, and bumps. If these problems are found, replace the corresponding dynamic and static contactors to ensure safe contact.
, Regularly check the variation of the power supply voltage of the frequency converter, improve the phenomenon of special use environment and large load variation of the frequency converter, and avoid the impact of high current on the frequency converter, which affects normal operation.
Variable frequency drives have the advantages of wide speed range, fast dynamic response, high speed accuracy, complete protection functions, and simple operation. They are widely used in industries such as metallurgy, petrochemicals, power, machinery, and civil electrical appliances. Generally speaking, frequency converters are used for about 7 years and enter a period of frequent failures, such as component burnout, malfunctions, and frequent activation of protection functions, which may seriously affect normal operation. Therefore, regular maintenance and upkeep are necessary.
